Hobart Culture, Festivals and Fashion

If you are looking to experience a bit of Hobart's cultural scene then you are in luck. The Hobart Summer Festival is Tasmania's number one summer festival. Following the finish of the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the festival makes use of the long summer hours, a picture perfect location, and wonderful weather to showoff the very best that Tasmania has to offer in arts and crafts, entertainment, and produce. A free event, it is situated along Hobart's waterfront, Salamanca Market, and Sullivans Cove and lasts for fourteen days. It even features street performances by musicians, actors, and dancers.

If a museum or art gallery is what you love, then visit one of the many museums or small art galleries that are located all over Salamanca Square. You may also visit the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery located on Macquarie Street or the Maritime Museum of Tasmania on the corner of Argyle and Davey Streets if you are looking to learn more about Hobart's rich past.  Both museums are open to the public and more than willing to share a piece of history with visitor. No matter what your level of refinement, Hobart has plenty of culture and history to share.
