Hobart Weather
With a very mild and temperate oceanic climate, Hobart enjoys four very different seasons. Hobart has nearly the least amount of day time hours when compared with other major cities in Australia being second only to Melbourne. Mount Wellington enjoys regular snowfall no matter what the season. This is due to the “roaring forties” which is the determining factor for the mountain temperature as well as the suburbs that slowly ascend the base. The city itself only receives snow upon occasion however during the 20th century it received several snowfalls due to a rash of cold air that moved in from Antarctica. The lowest recorded temperature was recorded on June 25, 1972 and was -3°C. The highest recorded temperature was 41°C which was taken on January 4, 1976. With an average low of 5°C in the winter months and an average high of 22°C during the summer months travellers can experience relatively pleasant conditions.
